Hey guys I'm a bad person. I enjoy training and jamming when my London friend is up for the weekend but when it's just me I rarely bother. Between now and when I get paid enough to actually reach Leicester I need some things to keep me active. I work fairly long hours and when I get home I'm braindead-exhausted so I suspect that doing some workout or practising some tricks will help me wake up a bit in the evening. But not too much, please, because I have to go to bed soon. Anyway, what would you guys recommend for someone with limited time? I have an hour at lunch in which I sometimes go for a jog if it's not too hot (there's no shower at work!) and about 4 hours in the evening in which to train, eat and do the myriad projects I have on the go, so something light but active to get my metabolism remembering what moving feels like would be great. Hope to train with you all in September

if you have limited time i would do run some spints and do pull ups, squats, chin ups, calf raises , push ups, calf raises and stretches

How often would you like to be training? Is your goal just fitness + fitness that you apply to Parkour? Do you want to stay at home or join a (decent) gym? Do you have any equipment at home? Do you currently have any injuries? If you can answer those I'll help you out

Hey Joe! Thanks for the responses OK here goes. I'm trying to just generally keep fit. Parkour was originally a method of doing this but it turned out to be awesome fun so that's why I do it now. I've got a few practice spots nearby where I can try and get the hang of moves (and, crucially, get past those mental blocks) but I get lazy in the evenings so I was going for the sorts of things that are both interesting and good for you, so that I actually bother to do them. Ideally I'd want to train a small amount every day, but I feel it may also be beneficial to me to train more but less often and sort of set up a weekly routine. If there were a shower at work I'd be much happier to exercise during lunch . I have a pull-up bar, a sit-up foot holder thingy and push-up stands but no weights. Currently I am trying to tolerate kittens and so all the doors have to remain shut quite a lot, which hampers pull-ups. I don't have any injuries that a good massage won't fix. As a programmer I do have my share of muscular quirks, which is another reason I want to do something athletic like this. Also, how does one go about getting into the zone where you don't care about all the chavs watching you when you're practising? A tangential question, but then if I can manage this I might do it more . So primarily it's fitness stuff, stuff to keep me awake instead of drifting off into catatonia when I get home in the evenings and keep me spruced up ready for training!

Calf raises are irrelevant, let's forgot about them I'll post up either tonight or tomorrow with a routine for you to try With regards to chavs.. screw them, you're doing something with your life - they're not!

What kind of programming do you do?
Also this thread belongs in the general discussion section of the forum.
I'd recommend following the routine Joe posts for conditioning, alternate that with technical training, try picking a couple of techniques and repeating them til you're fully confident with them, then try putting them together in sequences.

Ah OK - I saw 'beginners' so figured this is also for beginner discussion. Feel free to move it (not that I can stop you ) At work it's PHP but at home it's Perl.
